BMW becomes the first automaker to receive CCC Digital Key certification

On July 16, BMW officially announced that the BMW Group has become the first automobile manufacturer to obtain CCC Digital Key™ digital key certification. This certification is based on the highest requirements of the CCC (Car Connectivity Consortium, Global Car Connectivity Alliance) for the security and interoperability of vehicle-to-device access, and confirms that BMW’s digital key function meets its requirements.

CCC is a cross-industry standardization organization dedicated to further developing the interconnection of automobiles and smart mobile devices and promoting this process globally. BMW has become a CCC member as early as 2017. In addition to many automobile manufacturers, CCC members also include multiple leading smartphone manufacturers, first-tier automotive industry suppliers, semiconductor manufacturers and security product suppliers.

Kai Barbehön, head of central control unit development, vehicle network and power supply at the BMW Group, said: “We want to provide our customers with the best possible overall experience, and innovative and convenient comfort access functions are an important part of this experience. We We are the first automaker to receive CCC Digital Key™ certification, which highlights our leadership in this field. We look forward to continued cooperation with CCC and regard CCC Digital Key™ as our current and future product. An integral part of the vehicle platform. ”

Currently, BMW’s BMW Digital Key Plus function based on UWB ultra-wideband technology has covered both Android and iOS platforms, and is compatible with iPhone, Apple Watch, and Android-based smartphones such as Xiaomi, Vivo, and OPPO.

This feature no longer requires customers to point their mobile devices at the door handle for identification, but can carry them with them; at the same time, it does not require customers to place their mobile devices in the wireless charging slot to start the vehicle. Can recognize mobile devices and start the vehicle.
