Buick Century audio system exposed, using Bose Executive Edition Yuezun series

Recently, we learned from SAIC-GM Buick officials that the Buick Century will use the Bose Executive Edition Yuezun series. The audio system will use 21 speakers to create a sound field focusing on the rear rows. Previously, the new car has rolled off the assembly line at SAIC-GM's Jinqiao plant, and the application pictures, official pictures and some configurations have been exposed. As the new flagship model of the Buick MPV family, the car is scheduled to be launched within the year.

The new car will be equipped with Bose's world's first Bose Executive Edition Yuezun series that prioritizes listening in the rear row. It is equipped with a total of 21 speakers including rear UltraNearfield super near-field headrest speakers, 16 of which are accurately surrounded. At the rear of the cabin, including the headrests of the rear seats, many advanced audio technologies are used and have unique system names and logos.

The Century is the first Buick model to feature headrest speakers. The new car design team discussed and verified with Bose and seat suppliers to find the ideal layout for the ultra-near-field headrest speakers in the rear row to ultimately achieve a balance between sound effects, headrest shape, and comfort.

At the same time, Bose placed speakers in Buick Century’s luxury smart curtain wall system for the first time. Buick and Bose jointly customized an ultra-thin cabinet with a Line Array in the center and three small speakers embedded in it to enhance the sound experience in the rear row.

In addition to innovative design, the Bose Executive Edition Yuezun sound system also has powerful hardware configuration and digital signal processing technology.

The new generation of UltraNearfield super near-field headrest speakers can effectively enhance the atmosphere and presence in the rear row; Line Array center (including 2 8cm Twiddler® neodymium magnet mid-high frequency speakers, 1 2.5cm neodymium Magnet tweeter) reproduces the details of musical instruments and vocals; the 16.5cm Super65 wideband speakers located on each door can output shocking sound effects with deeper penetration and wider sound range than traditional door speakers. In addition, the rear three-way acoustic design of the high, medium and low frequencies is output by different speakers; two high-efficiency digital amplifiers use 12-channel and 4-channel customized equalization respectively to match the driving needs of the 21 speakers in the car.

In terms of software, PersonalSpace virtual audio technology transmits the sound emitted by UltraNearfield ultra-near field headrest speakers to the listener through a specific algorithm; AudioPilot noise compensation technology maintains a stable and consistent auditory experience under different driving conditions of the vehicle. The sound system provides four exclusive sound effect modes, including full car balance, main driver balance, rear seat exclusive, and Yuexun surround, corresponding to various travel scenarios.

According to Bitauto App's "Hot List" data, Buick Century's average daily attention is 7,875, ranking 8th among joint venture medium and large MPVs. If you need more data, please check it out on Bitauto App.
